Dikkat Eksikliği Hiperaktivite Bozukluğu Okul Çocuklarında Serum Bakır ve Çinko Düzeyleri

In this study, 19092 children attending Trabzon prima ıy schools were examined and 48 of them with Attention Deficity and Hyperactivity Disorder according to DSM-III-R diagnostic criteria indentified in 1991-1992 period. This group and 45 normal children from these schools involved in serum zinc and copper content determination with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) (GBC Scientific Model 902) Serum zinc content of ADHD group was 60.6±9.9 ,ugldl and in control group it was 105 .8±13 .2 pgldl. The difference between them was statistically significant (p<0.001). Serum copper content of ADHD group was 114.7±15 .7 ygldl and in control group it was 153 .5±16.9 ygldl. The difference between them was statistically significant (p<0.001). There was no patient that serum copper level below normal. Consequently it is possible that there is a relationship with ADHD and low serum zinc contents and it is logical to give zing to these childrens.
