Dikkat Eksikliği Hiperaktivite Bozukluğu Olan Çocukların Annelerinde Depresyon ve Anksiyete Düzeyleri

The aim of this study is to assess the impact of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which is known to cause much turmoil in the family, on the depression and anxiety levels of mothers with ADHD children. Forty mothers of children with DSM-IV diagnosis of ADHD and 40 controls who were mothers of children with a DSM-IV diagnosis of an anxiety disorders were recruited in the study. The subjects were assessed with Beck Depression Inventory, Beck Anxiety inventory-y and SCL-90-R. Major Depressive Disorder was diagnosed according to SCID-I. Depression and anxiety scores of SCL-90-R. The prevalence of Major Depressive Disorder in the mothers of ADHD children was 32.5 % which was significantly higher than the control group (12.5 %). It is understood that ADHD causes a great burden in the mothers and the psychopatology of mothers should be handled concomitantly with the therapy of the child in older to provide a bener outcome.
