The increased sensivity of MR1 in detecting ischemic changes has prompted a number of investigators to use this modality to examine the association of migraine phenomena with ischemic changes.Hyperintense foci within the white matter on T2-weighted MR images have been reported in the range of 12 % to 46 % recently. Because of this wide range of estimated prevalences and the small number of patients assessed, we examined a larger series to better estimate the prevalence of white matter abnormalities in patients with migraine .Based on these patients, we evaluated the association of MR1 white matter abnormalities with age, sex, migraine type ,duration of symptoms in patients without concomitant medical risk factors for white matter changes
