Several studies suggest that a low serum cholesterol is associated with a risk of suicide. Our aim wasto determine whether cholesterol and triglycerid levels are associated with a history of suicide attempts and depression degree in a depressed sample and control patients with schizophrenia. The degree of suicidally was divided two level: no suicidal attempt (94/122), suicidal attempt (28/122). There was a sign ı:ficant association between lower cholesterol levels and increasing attempt of suicidality (p=0.036), no significant association between triglycerid levels and depresson degree (p=0.10). Low cholesterol levels and pathological levels of triglycerid should be further investigated in more depressed sample.
