In Parkinson's disease, psychosis may be induced by antiparkinsonian treatment. In this study psychotic symptoms were assessed in 61 idiopathic Parkinsos's disease (IPD) patients, compared to 59 healthy controls and 58 chronic disabling disease patients, using brief psychiatric rating scale (BPRS). In IPD group, BPRS scores were higher than both control groups and the difference was statistically significant. Psychosis rate was 14.7 % in IPD patients, whereas no psychotic disorder was observed in the two control groups.
