In this study, the syptoms of mental illnesses are searched in the relatives of schizophrenic patients, and the results are compared with control groups in which the relatives of patients with tuberculous diseases are taken. For the diagnosis of mental illnesses groups are wiewed with SCID-NP and SCID-II. More schizophrenia found in a meaningful degree in the family members of schizophrenic patients compaired with the control group. No significant difference found about other psychiatric cleases. Detected by SCL-90-R, the relatives of schizophrenic patients are found to have significantly higher mental symptoms than the control group. Also, the exacerbations of schizophrenic patients are taken into account. The relatives of schizophrenic patients who have more frequent exacerbations, compaired with the relatives of schizophrenic patients who have less frequent exacerbations are found to have more psychiatric symptoms.
