In this study, 166 patients who hospitalized in 1990 in Bak ırköy Neuropsychiatric Hospital and who diagnosed as atypical psychosis or atypical mood disordes according to the DSM-III-R were evaluated retrospectively. The cases were grouped in terms of age, sex, previous diagnoses, treatments administered and responses to the treatment, lobaratory investigations, clinical signs and symptoms. The patients who fulfilled the criteria of Perris-Brockington for cycloid psychosis were grouped accordingly. The results showed that 10% of the patients (15% women, 7% men) had an "atypical" diagnosis. 30% of these fulfilled the criteria for cycloid psychosis.
