This disorder has been included into psychiatric classification systems under the heading of anxiety disorder since 1980's. The disorder is defined with its etiological root which is the trauma. The most common causes of the posttraumatic stress disorder are war, disaster, torture, and rape. Those traumatic experiences, its consequences and disabilities deserve to be treated more effectively as the suffering is excessively prominent. This review intends to provide an overview of the disorder.
