In this study, it has seen that with a lithium teratment of patients who has bipolar affective disorder (Manic epizode), serum sodium level gradually falls (p <0.05) and there isn't any important difference in serum potassium level (p < 0.05). Statisticaly meaningful difference about the serum electrolyte level between male and female patients is not found. It was found that serum lithium level comes stable between the 7'th and the 14'th days during the lithium treatment; with a dosage of 1200 mg lithium carbonate per day an average of 0.82 mEq/L serum lithium level is obtained.
