The deinstitutionalization of patients constitutes a major problem in forensic psychiatric practice. This problem due to a number of factor such as problem in general health care systems, lack of a particular mental health policy, inadequacy of social security systems, and insulliciency of collaboration between the judicial and health systems. The study population consisted of recurrent criminal cases who have been admitted to a forensic psychiatric clinic during 1995 . The cases were evaluated with respect to the type of crime, psychiatric disorder before and afer the ollence, hospitalization, treatment compliance, social ,support, the frequency and adequency of follow-up (probation) examinations. We conclude that, the absence of social and medical supports tha will provide adjustment to the social life for the individuals after their discharge or inability to maintain such support, the lack of follow-up standards after deinstitutionalization, inelliciency of the judicial systems in controlling probation and the inadequacy of protection and treatment of the offender after previous offences; lead to recurrent crimes.
