Ninety-four patients with brain tumor treated by surgical intervention at Neurosurgery Department of Trakya University Hospital between January 1995-January 2000 were evaluated retrospectively. Forty-eight of the cases were males and forty-six were females and mean age was 33.1. Eighty-four percent of all brain tumors were located in the supratentorial part and the rest of (16 %) the tumors were located in infratentorial part. The most frequent tumor type was astrocytic with 35.0 %. Meningioma (19 %) and metastatic tumors (12.7 %) were the next common tumors. Surgical treatment was performed in all tumors. The rate of total excision was 60.6 %. 46.8 % of the patients were discharged without any neurological deficit. The mortality rate was 9.6 %.
