Severe tardive dyskinesia, occurs late in the course of antipsychotic treatment, it may cause medical complications, deterioriate social functioning and with the difficulties in its treatment, represents a serious disabling movement disorder. Older patients over the age of 60, with affective disorders and cognitive impairment are among potential risk groups. In this case report, a-76-year-old female patient with severe tardive dyskinesia is described and concept of severe tardive dyskinesia, its risk factors, difficulties in treatment and use of atypical antipsychotic medication in treatment are underlined.
