Leukoaraiosis is a radiological phenomenon. CT of the patients Show bilateral areas of hypodensity in the white matter of the cerebral hemispheres. Seven percent to % 30 of patients older than 60 years who have computed tomographic scans and % 8 to 100 % of those who have magnetic resonance imaging have leukoaraiosis. Pathogenesis of the leukoaraiosis is unclear. Leukoaraiosis is frequently detected in older subjects and also related with hypertension. In this review, we discussed clinical importance of leukoaraiozis.
