Hypocalcemia, which is one of the etiologic factors in epilepsy, is also cardinal manifestation of hypoparathyroidism with hyperphosphatemia and defective parathormone secretion. Hypoparathyroidism may be secondary or idiopathic in familial and sporadic forms. In this article 4 cases of idiopathic hypoparathyroidism with extensive brain calcifications and neurologic dysfunction were presented. The importance of identification the illness in the therapy of convulsive seizures without antiepileptic drugs is stressed.
