Adolescence is a period like a moratorium between childhood and adulthood, which has some special features and developmental tasks. However, when this phase comes to an end, the adolescent must achieve not only a stable identity, but alsa the tasks of seperation and individuation. On the other hand, adolescent must be clinically evaluated carefully with special regard to some psychiatric disorders and suicide attempts. Recently, there has been an increase in the rates of suicide, for this reason primary preventation leads us to identify risk factors such as psychiatric disorders, developmental features, context of social support, features of suicide attempts and family functioning. In addition, we must evaluate whether the adolescent with a suicidal behavior will progress along the "continuum" of suicide.
