The importance of the neuropeptides increases gradually in both etiology and the treatment of many psychiatric disorders such as anxiety disorders and depression. Many studies have been focused on Neuropeptide Y distributed widely in central nervous system. In stress condition Neuropeptide Y has function as an anti-stress hormone against corticotropin releasing factor (CRF). It has obvious anxiolytic effect and functions in feeding behaviour. Besides its neuroendocrine, autonomic, neurochemical and cardiovascular effects, it would become more important agent in the future of the psychiatry because of its role in sexual behavior, feeding, memory and anxiety.
