Mental Retardasyon ve Psikopatoloji

45 mentally retarded patients whose psychiatric symptoms could not be taken under control by out-patient measures were evaluated in terms of their psychopathology and the treatments they were giyen. The intelligence levels of the patients were determined using the WAIS (Wechsler's Adult Intelligence Scale) whenever the pyschiatric condition was adequate. In others who would not allow a test because of their agitation or very low intelligence, clinical considerations and psychiatric examination were used the psychiatric symptoms were assessed using the Overall rating scale for psychiatric symptoms and signs. For each patient 'Assesment of psychopathology form', a form designed for this study was giyen. The results were compared with the diagnostic groups in DSM-III-R and discussed with the related literature.
