The purpose of this study is to determine how the hand preference, hand skill, and perception of emotion is affected in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). For this reason right handed 57 patients met DSM-IV criteria for (OCD) and 50 control subjects were recruited to the study. The hand preference was assessed respecting the Edinburg Handedness Inventory (EHI). To measure the hand skill, Peg Moving Tast (PMT) was used. The Happy-Sad Chimeric Faces Task (HCFT) was used to assess perception of facial emotion. According to the hand preference results right handedness decreased, mixed handedness increased in OCD groups respect to the control subjects. According to HCFT results LHB was lower in high obsesyon point subjects respect to the controls. While OCD and degree of OCD affecting the test results, secondary depression associated with OCD did no affect on the tests out of decreased PMT performance and nonsignificant decrease in LHB in HCFT.
