In 1986-1987 acedemic year,-the freshmens of four faculties, two of them from applied sciences and the two social sciences, were included for this study to elucidate the affecting factory that determines the self-esteem of adeloscents. For this study, 171 females and 379 males, totaling 550 freshman students, ranging 17-21 years of age, age means 18.9±0.048 were included. Investigation the relationship, between self-esteem and family factors were purposed. Rosenberg self-esteem scale and questionary about their families were applied. The results were anlyzed by using MINITAB statistical program. It was found that self-esteem is significantly related to sex (p<0.05), education of mother and father (p<0.01), occupation of mother (p<0.05), financial status of family (p<0.05), paying attention of family (p<0.001).
