It has been shown that from one third to half of the patients whose have a diangosis of sexual dysfunction, had comorbid psychiatric disorders, especially depression and anxiety disorders. Actually, there is a bidirectional relation between sexual dysfunctions and depression. This relation is now more complicated after the trials that has shown the high rate of sexual side effects of antidepressants. Trials has shown that, besides tricyclic antidepressants and MAO inhibitors, SSRI's have alsa high rates of sexual side effects. SSRI's may effect all phases of sexuallity like sexual desire, excitement and orgasm. In this article, sexual side effects of antidepressants and coping strategies for physicians is mentioned.
