THA application of anti-coagulant therapy to acute stroke patient's is stili contraversial about the usefullness and uselessness. Anti-coagulant therapy; is used at preventing the early recurrance in suspidious cardioembolic stroke, transient ischemic accidents and progressive ischemic stroke and basillar arterial thrombosis. 361 our hospital stroke policlinic's patients in between 1995-2001 who take oral anti-coagulant therapy are evaluated according to their reperts and endication of begining the therapy. Cardiomeblosim (atrial fibrilation) is determined as the best frequent reason of drug use. Reason of starting the therapy in 29 patients (% 8.1) was unclear. Oral anticoagulant therapy is used dillerent from the usual endication of therapy in 30 patients (% 9) who have a new stroke accident while taking antiaggregant therapy, 7 patients % 1.9); have stenosis of carotis interna (have not other risc factors), 2 patients (% 0.6); have positivity of anticardiolipin antibody, 1 patients (% 0.3) is diagnosed as vasculitis
