Elazığ'da Görülen İntihar Olgularının Adli Tıp Açısından İncelenmesi

In this study it was aimed to examine the suicide cases in Elazığ where suicide is an important problem of public health. The hospital files of subjects who attempted suicide between the dates of April 1997-April 2001 were evaluated. Post-mortem examination and autopsy records of cases who died in consequence of suicide were studied. 61.8 % of suicide cases resulted in death were female and the majority frequently preffered method of suicide for females were hanging. The rate of this was 38.3 %. Among males the most frequently preffered method of suicide was also hanging and the rate was 20.7 %. It was determined that 71.6 % of the survived cases were females, and 54.4 % of the survived cases preffered taking drugs in order to commit suicide. The results were compared to the other studies carried out in other parts of our country, resemblances and dillerences were highlighted.
